I had a comment but my computer mouse started going nuts, so I'll start over! Currently from the library I have a PD James book, "The Lighthouse," plus the latest in the Jesse Stone series by Robert Parker. I think a book by Barbara Vine (it may be called "The Birthday Present") just came in -- havent' gotten it yet. This one isn't from the library but is just wonderful. It's bipolar bare (no caps) by Carlton Davis and is his memoir about struggling with and coming to terms with mental illness. Very powerful, with incredible writing that sings. He even has drawings and sketches in there that really add a whole new dimension to this book in particular and the memoir genre in general. You know what they say about a picture being worth a thousand words.
I am Alison. I'm the mother of three adult children. I work with numbers, but I love words. I also love chocolate, Diet Coke, the ocean, and BYU Women's Basketball.
I started this blog in January 2007 as a way to keep track of the books I read. Little did I know that there was a great book blogging community out there!
I enjoy an eclectic mix of genres, but young adult and historical fiction novels are among my favorites.
I post reviews here of many of the books I read. Book discussion is always welcome! I also track my participation in book challenges and other reading events here. Occasionally I post other book- or reading-related information or memes.
Unless otherwise noted, the books I review come from my personal collection or from the county library system. Complimentary copies of books I have received from authors, publishers, or publicists for review purposes are so noted.
I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a very nice loot. I love #3 and have heard nothing but great things about #2.
Good for your husband! I hope you feel better soon as well. :) I've been wanting to read The Housekeeper and The Professor: the cover's so gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteOo! Good choices! I really enjoyed the Alexander McCall Smith book as well as Neil Gaiman's. I haven't read the third one, but I love that cover.
