Why Alison Has Not
Been Read-a-Thon-ing

Hello, this is Sugar Plum, Alison's daughter. I just got back from the ER, where Alison still is. She's really disappointed that she missed out on the read-a-thon, and we all appreciate your concern! She'll be back soon!

  1. Why were you at the ER? For yourself or someone else in the family? I'm in Nashville today and tomorrow, with my best friend Donna, who has tests scheduled at Vanderbilt Medical Center tomorrow. I'll be praying for you.

  2. Thanks, Bonnie! It turns out that I have a kidney stone. I've heard women say that the pain is worse than child birth, and I now have to agree. Today hasn't been bad. I even went to church this morning. But I'm glad for the pain medication again tonight!

  3. Whoa!! You poor thing. I am SO sorry! I'm sure that played havoc with everything you had planned but at least we live in a time of pain meds and technology!!We spent a 48 hour stint in the ER with my DIL in February as she tried to pass a kidney stone too. She is very stoic and endures pain SO well and yet she was in tears and in intense pain - even throwing up. It was pretty nasty. I hope everything works out okay. You'll be in thoughts and prayers.

  4. I'm so sorry to hear about your trip to the ER, Alison! Hope you're feeling better soon. Kidney stone does not sound like any kind of fun. Take care!

  5. How horrible and what horrible timing! You'll have to have a readathon of your own while you recover. I hope you feel better soon!

  8. Glad you are better, but I know it must be tough. The worst pain I ever had was shingles, much worse than childbirth and it lasts much, much longer.
