The first activity of the read-a-thon is an Introduction Meme, created by Darcie in the last read-a-thon. Here goes:
Where are you reading from today?
For the most part, I'll be sitting on the love seat in my family room, with my feet on the ottoman.
Three facts about me:
- Although I am an avid reader, I've discovered that I don't read near as quickly as my two daughters (17yo and 12yo). I'm not sure why that is - and I wonder if my speed has diminished with age.
- I love Diet Coke with Lime, microwave popcorn, and crab cakes - all of which I intend to consume in the course of the read-a-thon.
- I don't do well when I don't get enough sleep. Participating in an event like this one is a bit of an act of faith that the rewards will outweigh the cost.
Lots! I've got a bunch of books here that I've checked out of the library over the past several weeks, as well as some books I own. And I can always make a quick run to my local library branch if I decide I need something else.
Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (e.g., number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
My goal is to make some progress toward completing some of the challenges I've involved with this year. That and to have some fun!
Any advice for people doing this for the first time?
This is my third read-a-thon, and one of the best parts for me has been visiting and being visited by other readers and cheerleaders. I'd recommend that everyone do that as much as they realistically can!
You know I am doing this because I read about it on your blog last time and thought it sounded fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love Diet Coke with lime and microwave popcorn as well! Happy Reading!
ReplyDeletejeanette: i'm so glad i could pass along the fun! happy reading!
ReplyDeletelaura: thanks for stopping by!
I'm finding it's better to read slowly--I think I get a lot more out of it. I think we become more patient readers as we age also. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI wish you lived next door! A guy brought a whole case of diet coke with lime to a party we had recently but drank only one. No one else touched it all night! Then we had it sitting in our house for months until one of my son's friends said his dad liked it. So we sent it off with him.
