Shopaholic & Baby by Sophie Kinsella

Published in 2007. 359 pages.

This fifth book in the Shopaholic series was just as enjoyable as the others. My sister originally introduced me to Becky Bloomwood, and although I wasn't quite sure what I thought at first, I've come to enjoy these light-hearted, somewhat satirical novels. Not a shopper, I don't relate much to Becky, but I did relate to the main character in Kinsella's The Undomestic Goddess.

  1. I really liked the earlier Shopaholic books but gave up on ... Ties the Knot as I felt we were into the realms of same old, same old. Glad you enjoyed this one.

  2. I enjoyed this one way more than S and Sister - probably because my biological clock is ticking! And the first scene where she ultrasounds her bladder made me laugh out loud!

  3. I got this one at the library recently, and enjoyed it as well. These Shopaholic books are just sheer escapes for me, light and fun. I liked this one a lot, certainly more than the Sister one, which was my least favorite. But, as much as I like these, I did enjoy both of her standalone books better. I hope she writes more of both types :)

    Great review!

  4. Just finished the first Shopaholic book (on your reccommendation) and, after I got over the anxiety of her debt and compulsion, I loved it!

    Thanks for the suggestion!
